Gaming PC VPN setup.
Connect in 3 steps.
You bring the skill. We focus on the connection. Get your gaming PC on our Perth route, then test for lower ping, fewer spikes and smoother matches in the games you play.
Your gaming PC. Ready to connect.
You'll need a Windows gaming PC, a working internet connection and administrator access to install WireGuard. This guide uses the Windows client; macOS and Linux downloads are also available on the official WireGuard download page.

-
Install WireGuard & download your config
Download the Windows installer from the official WireGuard website, run it and approve the Windows administrator prompt.
In your portal, open Services, select your active VPN service and download your
gamingvpn.conffile. This is the file you'll import into WireGuard. -
Activate & play
Open WireGuard, choose Import tunnel(s) from file and select your downloaded
gamingvpn.conf. Select the imported tunnel and click Activate.Check that the tunnel shows Active, then launch your game and join your usual server or region. Leave the tunnel active while you play. Next time, open WireGuard and activate the saved tunnel — you only need to import the file once.
Your configuration is personal to your VPN service. Keep gamingvpn.conf private and don't post it in Discord, forums or screenshots.
Test it where the win matters.
A smoother connection gives you more room to focus on your aim, timing and teamwork. Use your 7 day free trial to compare the experience in your favourite games.
- Get a baseline: before connecting, play on your usual game server and note your ping, ping spikes and packet loss from the game's network display, where available.
- Try the Perth route: activate WireGuard before launching the game, then compare the same server or region at similar times. Pause downloads and streams for both sessions.
- Look beyond average ping: check for fewer stutters, less rubber-banding and more consistent response during fights, races or raids.
Results depend on your ISP's route and the game server. Keep the VPN on when it improves your connection; the trial lets you find out with your own PC and games. Need help finding the cause of lag? Read our guide to high ping, jitter and packet loss in Perth.

I can't find gamingvpn.conf
Log in to your portal's Services page, open your active service and use its configuration download button. Check your browser's downloads list or your Downloads folder. If your service isn't active or the button is missing, contact support@ozot.com.au.
WireGuard is active, but I can't get online
Click Deactivate and check whether your normal internet connection works. If it does, close any other VPN app, confirm you imported the configuration from your active service and try activating again. If it still fails, contact support with the time it happened and the error shown in WireGuard's Log tab. Keep your configuration and private key out of screenshots.
How do I check that the tunnel is working?
Check that WireGuard shows Active. Open a website or launch a game, then look for a recent Latest handshake and increasing Transfer counters in the tunnel details. You can also compare your public IPv4 address before and after connecting using the same IP-check service. The downloaded configuration routes IPv4 traffic through the VPN.
My ping is unchanged or higher
Use the same game region for both tests and check for packet loss and ping spikes as well as average ping. Pause background downloads and use Ethernet where possible. If your ISP already has a good route to that server, the VPN may not improve it. Send support your game, server region, ISP and before-and-after results so we can help check the route.
How do I disconnect after playing?
Open WireGuard, select your gaming tunnel and click Deactivate to return to your normal connection. Keep the saved tunnel for your next session.
Can I use it on Xbox or PlayStation too?
Yes. Share your Windows PC's VPN connection with your console over Ethernet. Follow the separate Xbox & PlayStation setup guide for the extra sharing steps.
